Knit a scarf for
Breast Cancer Research UK

scarf 1

In October 2010 a York group started a fundraising for Breast Cancer Research UK. Knitters from anywhere were asked to knit pink scarves.

From their site:
We need 2832 scarves ready to wrap around the 2.5miles of the York wall by Sunday 21st November 2010. Help by knitting a scarf (15cm by 150cm long) in any shade of pink or colour or design.
The scarves will then be sold to raise money for Cancer research UK’s research into breast cancer.
[…] We will be taking our knitting around the world with us including Mount Snowdon, India and around the world so come on can you help me!

Bev told us about this project and a few of 'our' knitters knitted a scarf as well. She took care that the scarves arrived at the right place (thanks Bev!).
She wrote: "I posted the scarves to York as I didn’t have chance to go in person. They got over 3000 of them in all so did really well. Did you see it on Look North on Sunday evening? I took some photos of the scarves before I sent them..."

Rachel Speight of the York team wrote £1860 was received! (as read on her website on 26-1-11).
On the left are Bev's photos of our scarves.
